Several local events will help mark the 150th anniversary this year of an important Mexican victory over French occupiers commemorated by Cinco de Mayo today.
The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College and Mexican Consulate will host an outdoor concert at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the Art Center. Del Castillo, The Brew and The Connectors will play.
The required wristbands for the concert are $30. They are half price for children under age 12 and may be purchase at the box office or online at www.utb.edu/artscenter. The public may bring lawn chairs or blankets, however, no outside food or drinks will be allowed. Vendors will be present.
