Q: I'd like to fill a 3' x 3' space with black-eyed susans and use another, shorter plant as a border. I think something dark and maybe purplish would be a pretty contrast, but I don't know a lot about plants or their names. What do you think (of any color)
A: Multi-colored Thumbelina zinnias would be pretty with the bright yellow Susans.

We moved here about a year ago and the previous owners planted a ghastly amount of "plants" in the front flower beds. I have a number of black eyed susans out there and I'm not big on the wild flower look in front of my house. I dug them up
It’s time to be courageous and cut back your perennials to extend their bloom time and encourage repeat blooming. Because we have had such a warm winter, and an even warmer spring, perennials in this area are about three weeks ahead in growth than normal. Therefore, traditional June tasks need to be done in the next few days of May.В
Pruning back summer- and autumn-flowering perennials before flowering is essential to maintaining their health and to extending bloom time into late fall. Perennials such as blackeyed Susan (rudbeckia) , bee balm (monarda) , tall-growing
Pentas in the back, zennias, then cone flowers and black eyed susans. All like full sun. Some are clump plants and spread and some don't come back. Can they all be planted successfully in one flower bed.
I would like to plant these 2 flowers and do i need a real good quality soil? Thanks. Any past experience knowledge, would be great to hear. I sometimes notice bunches of black eyed susans that have that real bright yellow color. I wonder if it is
