Q: how do you say mexican rice in spanish? also, i want to make vegetarian mexican rice so what are some good websites to get the recipe from? thanks for your help!

A: I just call it "Arroz".

Green Olive Salsa Verde

Two restaurants in my area of Oklahoma, make a rice that does not have tomato sauce or picante sauce in it.

It's has a lime taste and is yellow like turmeric or saffron was used. It has a bit of corn in it as well. I love this rice.


Here's a couple of recipes I found that may be close to it...

Spanish Yellow Rice

1 cup uncooked rice
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
1/8 teaspoon powdered saffron

It seems like most US Mexican restaurants serve two basic side dishes with most entres , fried beans and rice. Is rice really that popular in Mexico ? I don"t think of Mexico as a rice growing country


Mexico grows most of its own rice and actually inflicts tarrifs on importers to protect its rice farmers. Mexican rice is called so because it has tomato sauce and spices added to it. That is how we know it in the US. Refried beans are just ground up

I have a small rice cooker and LOOOOOOVE mexican rice. Can I use it to make mexican rice? What are some quick and easy recipes?
