Tribal Reps Attend Michigan Mining Forum

Bad River and Red Cliff representatives are traveling to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in Baraga County, Mich. to take part in a tribal mining forum Friday and Saturday this week.

The keynote speaker at the event is Bad River Tribal Chairman Mike Wiggins Jr.  His participation is a result of the regional community working against changes to Wisconsin mining law, an announcement for the event explains.

Implications to treaty rights will also be discussed at the forum, by George Newago and Brian Goodwin from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, according to the event agenda.
