I always use a ceramic flat iron, but I lost it so would it be bad if i used a clothes iron?
In my column of Dec. 27, 2005, I wondered about those men who did the hard labor in building our railroads. Did we have Chinese workers here as in other places? How many slaves were used to build the roadbeds and lay the tracks into Knoxville? How did they fare against the elements? Were there problems with American Indians who opposed the coming of the "iron horse"?
I don't know all the answers, but our newspapers in bits and pieces give important clues about those men who worked, suffered and sometimes gave their lives in the development of the railroads. In reporting railroad news, they sometimes told stories of man's inhumanity to man. I had not thought of prisoners being used to build them, but a story in the Knoxville Tribune of July 16, 1895, gave some disturbing facts.
It feels like every couple years I am replacing my clothes iron. I usually pay around $50 for it. Which company makes the best iron? Which one should I buy that will last for awhile?
I am still using one of those traditional heavy weight metallic irons, but I find ironing stains on the flat iron part kinda "ironed in", whats the best way to remove those stains that it doesnt transfer to my clothes?
thx
